We have used Illy and other Lavazza products but found this one to be the best. The amount of crema is not based on the coffee used, it is based on the machine used! If you have a Saeco as we do it is incredible crema, our Gaggia requires almost superhuman amount of pressing to achieve crema with the same coffee. If you want crema and wonderful espresso then use a good machine!

I am finishing my first two shots of "Lavazza Il Perfetto Espresso." I anticipated this since last night. Too late to drink, I thought, but in the morning, it will be so sweet a recharge as the sun rises.

This coffee I wisely choose over a can of more expensive Illy beans. Wisely, I say, because I based my purchase decision on reputation and price... both impressive. I have had good Lavazza before, but it must have been a different blend.

I am disappointed. Like in the 1990s, when the Jaguar automobile lost its luster to become merely just another nice vehicle, I trusted the famous coffee brand to retain the quality on which its fame rests. No laurels lasting any longer with Lavazza. I bought this specifically to share with a fellow coffee lover tomorrow as we break a loaf of Amish Friendship Bread. Hang my head I will, having introduced mediocrity into his cup under the guise of the brilliant. He will know better of me, but we will not speak of this error. Pleasantly, our friendship is stronger than my coffee.

As another reviewer carefully describes, the crema is weak. What crema there was dissipated quickly into the espresso.

I have 8.8 oz., with two shots worth gone. I will make the rest, and it will be adequate. The flavor is decent, but milder than I expect of an Italian roaster, especially as finely ground as this is. However, when again I am going through the aisle of at the imported goods grocery, I will turn away from the black box Lavazza sells.

Usinga La Spaziale Vivaldi pump espresso machine, despite multiple attempts, tamping as hard as humanly possible, tamping multiple layers, double shot portafilter, the shot was pulled 3-5 seconds. Way too fast and with essentially ZERO crema and thin, watery.

I even tried regrinding but this clogged my grinder and I needed to take it apart to clear.

In emails Lavazza admitted my findings. A lavazza retailer suggested I buy more Lavazza coffee but beans.

Why does Italy's largest coffee company need to misrepresent the coffee this product will produce. In their email, they say this product is intended for coffee drinkers with a different taste, but the packaging photos and description clearly target those with pump espresso machines seeking a good "crema" as depicted by the photo.

Italy's largest coffee company solution was suggesting I buy more coffee from them. I spent considerable time scanning the packaging per Lavazza request and supplying them with additional info.

A reasonable person might think such a reputable company could/would a provide a suitable replacement product or coupon especially after admitting the customer is correct and the product will not produce the espresso shown on the package.

I can use local coffee at a fraction of Lavazza's price and get quite a better/real shot of espresso similar to the one on the package photo.

I buy Lavazza regular espresso in the black can pretty regularly, as I consider it the smoothest tasting of all in the supermarket.

This decaf in the green can is just as good, but lacks the kick of caffeine.

One reviewer loves Bustelo; well it's a matter of taste. I found Bustelo to be harsh and unpleasant.

I was hopeful, but left unsatisfied. The color of the bean grounds says it all; a light brown not the typical dark brown to black of real espresso, even decaf. Taste is weak and odd, not rich and solid. Certainly not worth the extra $$. Recommend Cafe Bustelo instead.

For the longest time I've been looking for something that compares to Illy espresso (medium roast) at a lower price. Thought this was a deal as I've been paying $14+ per can of Illy. I read all the hype & tried to order via Amazon only to be told they will NOT ship this product to Hawaii.I found the Crema e Gusto somewhere else for less than $9/pack; sadly, I was disappointed with the slightly bitter undertone and will most likely go back to Illy. Yes i did say drip. I have now tried 2 different lavazza brands. This is the better of the two but do not discount the other as i love it equally. I will continue to buy both as i love the occasional change up. If you use this in a drip coffee pot i would suggest staring out with using just over half of the normal amount you usually use then move on from there. With other brands including starbucks i would use 1 - 1.5 scoops per cup. So in my 5 cup maker depending on what taste i was going after i would use up to 8 scoops. With both lavazza coffees i have found 3-3.5 scoops is ideal in my 5 cup maker. It takes a few times to get it in your head that so much less coffee works but it does.

Disappointing taste, disappointing response by seller. Opened the 2-lb. bag of beans, and there was no aroma. Made my cappuccino & my husband's black espresso: no pleasing flavor, in fact unpleasant flavor. Tried again, to be certain. Not good! Mailed entire bag back at my expense, as no answer via phone on Friday evening & wanted to get it over and done with. Received call a few days later from a rude and insulted rep. who chastised me for returning without authorizarion. The policy is no returns on coffee. Refused me a credit or even in-house credit. I let my platinum credit card handle it, the seller has the coffee beans and my money!

No need for a detailed review, these beans make great espresso. I have a Gaggia Classic espresso maker and a Krups burr grinder to grind the beans, and this trio (Lavazza Super Crema Beans + machine + grinder) makes fantastic espresso every time. The crema is perfect, there is not the slightest hint of bitterness. My only warning about these beans is that if you own an espresso maker at home, you should be real careful buying these beans as you may find yourself going crazy making espressos. These beans consistently make an espresso that is as good or better than anything I've found commercially in the US (and I'm not going to rant about the coffee beverage that Starbucks sells as espresso and puts in a paper cup). This bag of espresso beans is definitely more expensive than what you can find in the grocery store (or elsewhere), but this is a case of you get what you pay for. If you like espresso, this is money well spent.

Being a long time consumer of Lavazza Creama E Gusto which I find most enjoyable, I thought I'd give Super Creama a try.Very disapointing on flavor and fullness. For a latte I find it necessary to double the quantity in the basket and cut the milk by 80-90% so instead of a 10 oz

double, it's a single shot expresso with a dash of milk. The bean is a medium brown in color that is reflected in it's charater. Back to "Creama E Gusto"

I bought a high End Gaggio Espresso machine for my wife for a special occasion last year. While searching around for espresso beans I couldn't find any that reminded me of Italy. Finding the Lavazza Super Crema was the best. Especially in the 2.2lbs bag. So you know we go through a bag in 45 to 60 days. I've given up drinking regular coffee and now either go Espresso or Cafe American.

I would recommend this Espresso to anyone who would enjoy a smooth, and aromatic blend and the Crema is the best. Buon bere.

I had been purchasing the cafe espresso by lavazza in the black cans but decided to try this stuff and liked it even more. I had brought back a bag of the black stuff from Europe and liked it alot. This stuff is even better though. I have an espresso machine and this tastes the most like espresso you would get at a cafe in Europe. They sell it ay my local grocery store for $10 a can but this is a much better deal. It is on sale often as well through amazon.

I moved back to Austin, Texas from London about 8 months ago with my northern Italian husband. Since we got here we have been drinking nescafe and different espresso brands. We found a halfway decent can of Lavazza from wholefoods but the starbucks espresso is GROSS! It tastes burnt. I discovered the Lavazza Rossa on Amazon, which is my husband's favorite from Italy. We went through the 4 brick pack in a month!! Now he refuses to drink any coffee until I get more of this and Amazon seems to be out of stock until the end of the month when our next shipment is due!! I had to up the shipment to 8 bricks, especially as my Italian mother in law is due to visit for a month. We make it in the Italian espresso maker on the stove and it tastes WONDERFUL!!

For those of you with a cafe mocca this is probably the best coffee to buy. It has a great taste, the price is good I will not change for anything else in this price range.

Tip tip for the newly accuainted. Find yourself a good container and once you open the coffee, keep it in your container and keep it in the fridge. A cool stable temperature environment keeps your coffee in perfect condition.

My wife and I have been drinking this coffee for many years, but had difficulty finding it in San Antonio. Since we are transplanted Canadians (legally), we were importing this coffee from Canada where it is readily available in Super Markets.
